If you already stream video to Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod), you already stream HLS. There are many reasons why you would want to re-use your existing HLS infrastructure, or standardize on HLS, when targeting Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

Yes. We also support Event streaming, where a Live stream becomes a VOD stream.
Does it work with Microsoft Media Platform Player Framework?
Yes.
Does it work with low level media APIs like Media Foundation and Media Engine?
Yes. The 3ivx HLS Source will work with any media API that can use a locally registered custom Media Foundation media source.

Do you support AES-128 Encryption?

Do you support Closed Captioning/Subtitles?
We've added support for CEA608/708 and WebVTT format closed captions, and we're working on SMPTE-TT and TTML support. Please contact us if you're interested in closed caption support.
Do you support multiple audio tracks, ie. multi-language audio?
We've added support for multiple audio tracks including discrete audio and multiple PID audio. Please contact us if you're interested in this feature.
Can I use the 3ivx HLS Adapter to write a Silverlight application?
The HLS Adapter is currently available for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 Apps. Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 use a new API, Windows Runtime, which is a super-set of the Silverlight API. You can easily port your Silverlight application to Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8, and you can find more information on the MSDN site.
Will the HLS Adapter work with Windows 8 Desktop or Windows 7 apps?
We are currently evaluating a version of the 3ivx HLS Adapter for Windows 7/8 Desktop Apps. If you require this functionality, please contact us.
When will it be released?
The Early Access Program has finished and the first commercial releases of the 3ivx HLS Adapter for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 are now available for evaluation, integration and licensing.

How much does it cost?
It's free to download and use to develop your apps, but if you want to distribute your app to end users, you will need to purchase a distribution license, contact us for more information.
