What is the 3ivx HLS Player?
The 3ivx HLS Player can playback most HLS content that is currently available for consumption on iOS devices.
How does it work?
Once you have downloaded the app from the Windows 8 Store, you will see that we have set up some favorites and the app is pretty simple to use. You can add your own favorites to the list by entering the url and they will be saved for later.
'Live' Icon - The 'Live' Icon, to the right of the 'URL Navigation Bar', will light up on streams which are broadcast as live. Click the 'Live' Icon to jump to the live point of the broadcast.
‘Add/Remove Favorite’ Icon - If the URL you have entered is not a favorite you can add by clicking the favorite icon (*). If it is already in your favorite list then clicking the icon with a strike through will remove it from the list.
'Closed Caption' Icon - If the HLS Stream you have selected to play includes information for Closed Captions the 'CC' Icon will light up, you can then turn them on and off by clicking this icon.
Does it work on Windows 8/8.1 on both x86 and x64?
Yes.
Does it work on Windows RT devices?
Yes.

Can it play all HLS content?
With the 3ivx HLS Media Player you should be able to play most HLS URLs available on the web. You will not be able to play streams where cookie based authentication is used to protect the content.
What if it doesn't work?
We're confident that the 3ivx Media Player is easy to use and the above tips should resolve most issues. But if after all this, you still have an issue please contact us with a detailed description and the URL of the problem stream so that we can look into your issue further.
Why HLS on Windows 8?
If you already stream video to Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod), you already stream HLS. There are many reasons why you would want to re-use your existing HLS infrastructure, or standardize on HLS, when targeting Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
